SB Energy is planning to sell up to $500 million of shares to Japanese investors as part of its upcoming U.S. initial public offering, highlighting the growing investor interest in companies building infrastructure for the artificial intelligence boom.

AI Data Centers Drive Investment

SB Energy, a data center developer backed by SoftBank Group, plans to use proceeds from the new shares for general corporate purposes, including the development of data centers, power generation and related infrastructure.

The company has not disclosed the final size of its U.S. IPO, but previous reports have suggested SoftBank could target a valuation of around $50 billion.

Nvidia and OpenAI Linked to Offering

The planned IPO is also attracting attention because of investments connected to major technology companies.

Nvidia has committed $1.5 billion to invest in SB Energy at the IPO price, while OpenAI has received warrants valued at approximately $5.5 billion, according to Reuters.

The arrangements underline how the expansion of AI is creating demand not only for advanced chips and software, but also for the electricity, data centers and physical infrastructure required to operate increasingly powerful AI systems.

U.S. IPO Market Watches AI Infrastructure

SB Energy's planned listing comes as investors continue to look for opportunities linked to the expanding AI infrastructure market.

The company’s offering could become an important test of investor appetite for businesses positioned between the energy and technology sectors. With massive amounts of computing power required for AI data centers, demand for reliable electricity and specialized facilities is becoming an increasingly important part of the U.S. technology economy.
